Black Creek Physiotherapy is a Physiotherapist owned clinic located in Stratford, Ontario.  Our experienced team of healthcare professionals are committed to providing residents of Stratford and the surrounding rural area with an exceptional health care service that will assist them in reducing pain and achieving their highest level of functioning.

Melissa Groot, BHScPT Registered Physiotherapist

Melissa has practiced as a Registered Physiotherapist since 1998 when she graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Physiotherapy. She had previously completed a degree in Physical Education at the University of Western Ontario in 1996. Melissa has attended a number of Post-Graduate courses in Orthopaedics and Manual Therapy, Post-Concussion Rehab, Sports Injuries, Acupuncture, Soft Tissue Release, Pilates Rehabilitation Methods and Exercise Prescription. She completed the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Orthopaedic Division) Intermediate Certification in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2003 and is also certified in Pilates and Acupuncture. Melissa has been a member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations since 1998. Prior to opening Black Creek Physiotherapy in 2011, Melissa had worked at The Woodstock Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Clinic for over ten years. She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, pre and post-surgical conditions, and various other orthopaedic and neurological conditions.

 

Arielle Braby, Physiotherapist Assistant

Arielle has worked with us at Black Creek Physiotherapy since 2016. She has a strong background in customer service and provides both administrative support and assists with many patient care activities as a Physiotherapist Assistant in our clinic. Arielle recently completed a diploma and graduated as a PSW in 2021.  As well as working at Black Creek Physiotherapy, she works with clients in their homes in the community as a Personal Support Worker.

Ava Shrestha, Physiotherapist Assistant

Ava graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in 2017 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. She worked as a Physiotherapist for 2 years in Nepal before moving to Ontario. Ava began working with us at Black Creek Physiotherapy as a Physiotherapist Assistant in 2022. Her previous experience in the physiotherapy field and positive attitude is a welcome addition to our clinic.

Abby Watson, Physiotherapist Assistant

Abby graduated with an Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma in 2021. She had prior PTA experience in long term care settings before joining our team at Black Creek Physiotherapy. Her motivation and dedication to providing excellent patient care has been a welcome addition to our clinic.

 Abby would be happy to assist you in reaching your health and fitness goals at our clinic!

Jennifer Gulas, C.Ped(C) Canadian Certified Pedorthist

Jennifer completed a Diploma in Pedorthics and graduated with Distinction through the University of Western Ontario. In 2007 she completed her National Certification and received her designation of C.Ped (C), Canadian Certified Pedorthist. Jennifer also holds a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors as well as the Ethics and Continuing Education Committees for the College of Pedorthics of Canada. Jennifer’s clinical approach is to provide and assist with the body’s “foundation” for optimal joint and muscle function while supporting soft tissue function. Each pair of custom foot orthotics is specifically designed by Jennifer, and fabricated locally. Other services provided by Jennifer in addition to custom foot orthotics include knee and ankle bracing, compression therapy and footwear modfication. Jennifer has been an important and knowledgeable member of our clinic’s team since 2018.

Sharon Brophy, Basic, Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Nurse

Sharon graduated in 1981 from the Registered Nursing Assistant Program at the Wingham and District Hospital. She has completed several continuing education courses and specialized training courses over the years to enhance her nursing education.

 In addition to providing footcare nursing care in the community, Sharon currently works as a full time Registered Practical Nurse within the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance.

 Sharon completed the Basic, Advanced and Diabetic Footcare nursing education certificate courses at the Footcare Academy in Pickering, Ontario.  She has also completed both the Level One and Level Two courses with the Art and Science of Burring, a division of Feet First Footcare Inc.
