Meet Our Team
Melissa Groot, BHScPT Registered Physiotherapist
Melissa has practiced as a Registered Physiotherapist since 1998 when she graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Physiotherapy. She had previously completed a degree in Physical Education at the University of Western Ontario in 1996. Melissa has attended a number of Post-Graduate courses in Orthopaedics and Manual Therapy, Post-Concussion Rehab, Sports Injuries, Acupuncture, Soft Tissue Release, Pilates Rehabilitation Methods and Exercise Prescription. She completed the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Orthopaedic Division) Intermediate Certification in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2003 and is also certified in Pilates and Acupuncture. Melissa has been a member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations since 1998. Prior to opening Black Creek Physiotherapy in 2011, Melissa had worked at The Woodstock Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Clinic for over ten years. She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, pre and post-surgical conditions, and various other orthopaedic and neurological conditions.
Kari-Ann Hancharyk, RMT Registered Massage Therapist
Kari-Ann graduated from The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy and became certified as a Registered Massage Therapist with The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in 2018. Previous to becoming certified as a RMT, Kari-Ann worked a number of years in the healthcare field as a Laboratory Patient Technician/Medical Laboratory Technician. She has a strong background in patient care which shows in her dedication to the treatment of her clients in our clinic. Kari-Ann offers massage therapy as a form of treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions including sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, sciatica, headaches as well as neck and back pain. She utilizes various types of soft tissue techniques including Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, Myofascial release and also provides relaxational massage.
Jennifer Gulas, C.Ped(C) Canadian Certified Pedorthist
Jennifer completed a Diploma in Pedorthics and graduated with Distinction through the University of Western Ontario. In 2007 she completed her National Certification and received her designation of C.Ped (C), Canadian Certified Pedorthist. Jennifer also holds a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors as well as the Ethics and Continuing Education Committees for the College of Pedorthics of Canada. Jennifer’s clinical approach is to provide and assist with the body’s “foundation” for optimal joint and muscle function while supporting soft tissue function. Each pair of custom foot orthotics is specifically designed by Jennifer, and fabricated locally. Other services provided by Jennifer in addition to custom foot orthotics include knee and ankle bracing, compression therapy and footwear modfication. Jennifer has been an important and knowledgeable member of our clinic’s team since 2018.
Melissa Cronyn, PTA Physiotherapist Assistant, Personal Trainer
Melissa graduated as a Physiotherapist Assistant in 2016. She previously graduated with a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Conestoga College. She is an OFC (Ontario Fitness Council) Gold member and personal trainer. Melissa works with all fitness levels as a valued team member in our clinic and has an ability to demonstrate different variations of exercises as required depending on a client’s area of injury. She provides detailed and specific cueing for proper posture and technique with exercise programs and gives ongoing motivation throughout the session. Melissa would be happy to help you achieve your health and fitness goals at Black Creek Physiotherapy!
Arielle Braby Administrative Assistant
Arielle’s role at our clinic is to provide reception and administrative support. She has been an important member of our team since 2016. Arielle has a strong background in customer service and is happy to be able to answer your questions and assist you with booking an appointment at our clinic.
